The Griffin softball team returned to the field for the first time in three weeks with a road doubleheader at #16 East Stroudsburg on Sunday afternoon.
East Stroudsburg took game one by the score of 7-2 before the Griffins earned the split with a 7-4 win in game two. SHU is now 3-1 on the season while ESU is 7-3.
SHU took a lead in the first inning of game one.Â
Kassidy Wittig drew a leadoff walk. She moved to second on a
Shelby Telegdy single. Wittig stole third and scored on a throwing error to give SHU a 1-0 lead. The Warriors tied the game in the second inning. Seton Hill retook the lead in the third on a two out solo homer from Telegdy. Â
The Warriors scored three times in the third and added three more in the fourth for a 7-2 lead. Â
Telegdy had two hits in game one.
ESU used an RBI ground out in the bottom of the first inning of game two to take a 1-0 lead. SHU scored four times in the fourth inning. Wittig tripled to lead off the inning.Â
Grace Paredes singled to score Wittig and tie the score at one. After an out,
Lacey Lynn singled to score Paredes. Later in the inning,
Anna Kalkowski scored on an error andÂ
Brooklyn Fukushima scored on a double steal to give SHU a 4-1 lead. Â
Paredes homered in the fourth to extend the lead to 6-1. The Warriors scored three times in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-4. SHU added their seventh run in the seventh on an RBI ground out from
Brooke Cleland.
Paredes led the offense with three hits. Fukushima added two hits. Lynn earned the win in the circle.
SHU is scheduled to host Charleston on Wednesday afternoon. Â
