Seton Hill closed out their three game set in Aiken, SC with a doubleheader with USC Aiken on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins dropped game one by a 13-2 score then earned a doubleheader split with a game two win by the score of 6-1. SHU took two of the three games of the series to earn the series win. USC Aiken drops to 3-6 on the season. Â
SHU took a 1-0 lead in game one of the doubleheader in the top of the first.Â
Jack Whalen drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a single from
Owen Henne. Whalen later scored on an RBI ground out from
Owen Mandler. Â
USC Aiken tied the game in the bottom of the second and increased their lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning. The Pacers added two in the fifth and one in the sixth as they led 7-1. Â
Henne singled to lead off the eighth and later scored on a
Colin Ahr RBI ground out. Â
Henne led the offense with three hits. Fiedor added two hits. Â
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two. Whalen walked and moved to second on a single from Henne. Whalen scored on a sacrifice fly from Fiedor. Aiken tied the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning. Â
SHU took a lead in the third inning. With two outs, Mandler doubled and scored on a Fiedor single. The Griffins added two more runs in the fifth inning.Â
Brady McGuire drew a leadoff walk. Mandler singled with McGuire moving to third. McGuire and Mandler then executed a double steal to score a run. Mandler scored on a sacrifice fly from
Mark Black as SHU led 4-1. Â
Seton Hill scored two more runs in the sixth.Â
Jakob Haynes homered to lead off the inning. Whalen doubled and scored on a McGuire single. Â
Ian Korn earned the win. He went four innings, allowing an unearned run. Korn struck out four.Â
Zach Herb and
Christian Zilli combined for three shutout innings of relief. Â
SHU will travel to Tusculum next weekend for a three game set. Â
