Griffins Clinch PSAC Playoff Spot With Win Over the Rock

Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center in a PSAC West contest.  

The Griffins reached the century mark in the win as they defeated the Rock by the score of 101-65.  SHU is now 19-2 overall and 13-1 in the PSAC.  SHU clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament with the win.  

SHU took an early 8-3 lead over the Rock after back to back three pointers from Helene Cowan and Abby Mankins.  The Rock trimmed the lead to two but the Griffins answered with a 12-0 run over a 2:30 stretch to take a 20-6 lead.  Helene Cowan scored the final five points of the run.  SHU led 22-11 at the end of the first quarter.  

Back to back three pointers from Mankins and Hallie Cowan extended the SHU lead to 28-13 with 6:50 left in the half.  Two three pointers from Hallie Cowan gave SHU a 41-20 lead with 2:14 to play.  SHU led 46-27 at the halftime break.  

A basket from Sakeria Haralson and five straight points from Helene Cowan extended the lead to 54-29 6:33 left in the third.  Six straight points from Shaye Bailey pushed the lead to 65-33 with 2:36 left.  The Griffins led by fourty at the end of the quarter. 

The Griffins led by as many as 48 points in the fourth quarter before settling for the 36 point win.  

SHU shot 46% from the floor and 57% from three in the win.  They held the Rock to 36% from the floor and 31% from three.  The Griffins forced 29 Rock turnovers. 

Hallie Cowan scored a game high 20 points.  Helene Cowan just missed a triple double with 16 points, nine assists and eight steals.  Mia Kalich had another double double, this one with 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Mankins, Haralson, Bailey and Hailee Ford each scored eight,

SHU will travel to CalU on Wednedsay for another PSAC West contest.
