The Griffins traveled across the state for a PSAC Crossover matchup with East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon.
SHU scored the first ten points in the overtime period as they knocked the Warriors from the unbeatens with an 93-85 victory. SHU is now 7-1 overall while the Warriors fall to 6-1. Â
SHU took an early 6-3 lead over the Warriors.Â
Brandon Coury tied the contest at 11 with a three pointer at the twelve minute mark. A three pointer from
Edir Ortiz and a basket from
Dimitrios Sklavenitis put the Griffins in front 21-18 with 6:11 to play in the half. Back to back buckets from Sklavenitis and Ortiz pushed the Griffin lead to 31-25 with 2:20 to play. The Griffins led 33-29 at the halftime break. Â
Ortiz hit a pair of three pointers and
Kedrick Curtis added a basket as the Griffins used an 8-0 run to start the second half and give SHU a 41-29 lead just over a minute into the second half. The Griffins pushed their lead to 13 points on a Sklavenitis three pointer with 14:58 left. The Warriors cut the Griffins lead to 59-55 with 8:19 to play before a 4-0 Griffin run pushed the lead to 63-55 with 7:23 left. A three pointer from the Warriors cut the Griffin lead to 69-67 with 3:33 left. An Ortiz three and a pair of Curtis free throws gave SHU a 76-70 lead with 1:54 to play. ESU battled back to tie the score at 77 at the end of regulation. Â

Ortiz led five Griffins in double figures with 23 points. Sklavenitis added 20 points with 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Curtis finished with 20 points.Â
Camden Brewer scored 12 and
Gabe Gillespie added a double double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Â
