Seton Hill made the trip to Shepherdstown, WV for a non conference matchup with the Rams on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd outscored the Griffins 7-4 in the overtime period as the Griffins fell by the score of 66-63 in overtime. Seton Hill falls to 7-2 on the season. Â
SHU took an early 5-0 lead on a basket from
Kedrick Curtis and a three pointer from
Dimitrios Sklavenitis in the first two minutes of the contest. After the Rams tied the score at 5, the Griffins used a 7-0 run to take a 12-5 lead on a
Camden Brewer three pointer with 13:54 left in the first half. Another Brewer basket pushed the lead to 16-8 with 11:22 to play in the half. Threes from
Edir Ortiz and Brewer pushed the Griffins lead to 24-15 at the six minute mark. The Griffins led by as many as 12 points in the half before settling for a 35-28 halftime lead. Â
Curtis and Ortiz scored the first two baskets of the second half as the Griffins pushed their lead to 39-28 early in the second half. A fastbreak layup from
Brandon Coury extended the Griffins lead to 47-33 with 15 minutes to play in regulation. Shepherd used an 8-0 run to trim the lead to 47-41 at the midway point of the half. An Oritz basket pushed the lead back to eight but the Rams scored nine points in a 2:30 stretch to take a 50-49 lead over the Griffins. Brewer put the Griffins back in front with a three with 6:37 left. Ortiz tied the score at 59 with 2:39 left and both teams went scoreless the rest of the half to send the game to OT tied at 59. Â
Curtis scored the opening basket of OT to give SHU a lead. The Rams then scored the next seven points and led 66-61 with 1:28 left. Â
Brewer led the Griffins with 21 points. Curtis posted a double double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ortiz also reached double figures with 12 points,
