Seton Hill continued non conference action in Greensburg as they hosted Shippensburg on Monday evening.
The Griffins remained unbeaten at home with an 88-83 victory over the Raiders. SHU is now 6-1 on the season while Ship drops to 4-2 overall.
The early portion of the contest featured three ties before the Raiders used an 8-0 run to take a 15-7 lead with 13:05 left in the first half. Shippensburg led by eight at the midpoint of the first half. Back to back baskets from
Brandon Coury and
Kedrick Curtis trimmed the Ship lead to 25-23 with 5:07 to play. Ship led 31-25 with 4:13 left but the Griffins then went on a 14-3 run to close out the half with the Griffins in front 39-34.
The Raiders tied the contest at 41 with 17:24 left in the second half. Five points from Curtis and a dunk from
Gabe Gillespie put the Griffins in front 51-43 with 15:49 to play. A three pointer from
Rashaad Williams extended the Griffins lead to ten at 60-50 with 11:21 left. The Raiders got to within five but the Griffins were able to push their lead to 70-59 with 6:04 to play. A late 8-0 run from the Raiders cut the Griffins lead to 80-78 with 1:22 left. The Griffins then hit five of six free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Gillespie led the Griffins with 15 points.
Edir Ortiz and Curtis each posted double doubles of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Dimitrios Sklavenitis added 14 points as well. Williams finished with 11 points.
SHU will begin PSAC Crossover action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg.
