The Griffins continued non conference action as they traveled to Glenville, WV for a matchup with the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon.

Glenville State outscored the Griffins in both halves as they handed the Griffins their first loss of the season with an 86-76 victory.  SHU is now 5-1 overall and the Pioneers are now 3-2.

The Pionners took an early 7-2 lead over the Griffins less than three minutes into the contest.  Baskets from Kedrick Curtis and Camden Brewer cut the lead to 7-6 with 16:07 left.  Glenville continued to built its lead and led by 13 points, 34-21 at the 6:27 mark of the half.  SHU then went on an 18-8 run as they cut the lead to 42-39 with 1:22 left.  The Griffins hit four three pointers in the run.  A tip in from Dimitrios Sklavenitis at the buzzer cut the lead to 47-41 at the halftime break.

A 7-0 run early in the second half gave the Griffins a 56-63 lead with 14:06 left in the second half.  A three pointer from Edir Ortiz and three points from Sklavenitis extended the Griffins lead to 66-61 with 9:34 to play in the half.  A three from Sklavenitis gave SHU a 73-70 lead with 6:36 to play.  Glenville then went on an 11-0 run as they took an 81-73 lead with 2:50 to play.  A three from Ortiz cut the lead to five but that was as close as the Griffins would get down the stretch.

Each team shot well from the field as both teams shot 53%.  Glenville was 21-28 from the line to just 6-10 for the Griffins.

Sklavenitis and Ortiz led the Griffins with 20 points.  Curtis just missed a triple double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.  Camden Brewer also reached double figures with 11.
