Seton Hill played their final contest before the Thanksgiving break as they hosted West Liberty in a non conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
SHU outscored the Hilltoppers 50-24 over the middle two quarters as they earned a 93-68 win. SHU is now 3-2 on the season.
The Griffins took a 9-5 lead on a three pointer from
Helene Cowan with 7:48 left in the first quarter. A layup from
Mia Kalich and a three from
Hallie Cowan gave the Griffins a 14-9 lead at the midway point of the quarter. West Liberty led 26-22 after one quarter of play.
West Liberty scored the first two points of the second quarter before the Griffins went on a 15-0 run in just three minutes as they built a 37-28 lead with 5:17 left in the half.
Shaye Bailey and
Helene Cowan each had four points in the run. SHU led 44-37 at the halftime break.
A three pointer from
Hallie Cowan gave SHU a 53-42 lead with 5:45 left in the third quarter. Two baskets from Kalich and a three from
Abby Mankins were a part of a 9-0 SHU run that built the lead to 62-45 with 2:45 left in the third. A jumper from
Helene Cowan and four from
Hailee Ford gave SHU a 6-0 run and a 72-50 lead after three quarters of play.
SHU led by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter with the lead not dropping below 21 points.
The Griffins shot 50% from the floor while holding WLU to 39%. SHU also forced 24 turnovers.
Ford led five Griffins in double figures with 21 points. She also added nine rebounds.
Helene Cowan tossed in 20. Kalich had a double double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Hallie Cowan and Bailey each had 13 points.
SHU will be off until December 5th when they travel to Chestnut Hill.
