Seton Hill opened the home portion of their schedule as they hosted Davis & Elkins in a non conference matchup on Wednesday evening.
The Griffins used a 24-7 run over the final nine minutes of the first half to pull away for an 88-64 win over the Senators. SHU is now 3-0 on the season.
SHU came out of the gates fast, jumping out to a 10-2 lead over the Senators in less than five minutes. The Senators scored the next six points to trim the lead to 10-8 at the 12 minute mark. A three pointer from
Brian Belade and back to back baskets from
Rashaad Williams extended the Griffin lead to 18-11 at the 7:03 mark. D&E got back to within seven at 23-16 with 5:33 left. SHU then closed the half on a 13-2 run as they took a 36-18 halftime lead.
Edir Ortiz scored the first six points of the contest for the Griffins as they pushed their lead to 22 points. The Griffins continued to lead throughout the remainder of the half as they cruised to a twenty four point win.
The Griffins shot 53% from the field while holding the Senators to just 39% from the floor. SHU forced 14 turnovers.
Dimitrios Sklavenitis led four Griffins in double figures with 19 points. Ortiz added 16 points. Williams finished with 15 points.
Camden Brewer also reached double figures with 10 points.
Kedrick Curtis just missed double figures with 9 points. Ortiz, Williams and Curtis each pulled down nine rebounds.
SHU will travel to WV Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon for another non conference matchup.
