Seton Hill returned home on Wednesday evening as they hosted Edinboro in the McKenna Center for a PSAC West battle.
The Griffins rallied from five down with five to play to defeat Edinboro 73-67. The win is the fifth in a row for the Griffins. SHU is now 17-1 overall and 11-0 in the PSAC. Edinboro is now 14-4 overall and 9-2 in the PSAC. Â
Edinboro got off to a quick start as they took a 10-3 lead just over two minutes into the contest. Trailing 12-6 midway through the quarter, the Griffins went on a 7-0 run over a two minute stretch to take a 13-12 lead. Helene cowan had five of the seven points in the run. Back to back baskets from
Hailee Ford gave SHU a 19-16 lead after one quarter of play. Â
The Scots scored the first eight points of the second quarter as they took a 24-19 lead less than two minutes into the second quarter. Back to back three pointers from
Corinne Eisner trimmed the lead to 26-25 with 6:41 to play. Five straight points from
Abby Mankins and a three point play from Ford put SHU in front 34-28 with 2:45 left. The Griffins led 37-33 at the break. Â
Edinboro tied the score at 39 early in the third quarter. The Griffins used a 6-1 run later in the quarter to take a 50-44 lead with two minutes left. Another three point play from Ford gave SHU a six point advantage but the Scots battled back and trailed 54-52 at the end of the quarter. Â
Over nearly the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, the Scots outscored the Griffins 11-4 as they took a 63-58 lead. Mankins hit a pair of free throws and Ford hit back to back layups as SHU retook the lead 64-63 with 3:48 to play.Â
Helene Cowan hit a jumper and Ford hit one of two free throws as SHU led 67-65 with 1:27 to play. The Scots missed a pair of free throws and
Hallie Cowan knocked down her pair as SHU extended the lead to 69-65 with 45 seconds to go. A steal and a layin from
Shaye Bailey pushed the lead to 71-65 with 39 seconds left. A
Mia Kalich steal led to two more free throws from Kalich as the Griffins were able to put the game away. Â
Ford led the Griffins with a game high 19 points.Â
Helene Cowan added 13 points. Eisner finished with 11 and
Hallie Cowan was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 10. Mankins just missd double figures with nine points. Â
The Griffins will host #15 Gannon on Saturday afternoon in another PSAC West matchup. Â
