The Griffin men's basketball team returned home to host Edinboro in PSAC West action on Wednesday evening in the McKenna Center.
Seton Hill outscored the Fighting Scots by the score of 46-30 in the second half in route to a 79-63 victory. SHU is now 11-8 overall and 4-7 in the PSAC while Edinboro falls to 9-9 overall and 5-6 in the PSAC. Â
Less than three minutes into the contest, the Griffins jumped out to a 10-5 lead behind eight points from
Ryan Meis. Another jumper from Meis extended the lead to 12-5. Edinboro battled back to tie the score at 14 with 12:24 to play. A basket from
Edir Ortiz and a three from
Gage Lattimore pushed the SHU lead back to 19-14 with 11:21 to play. Midway thru the half, the Griffins led 21-19. Â
SHU took a four point lead, 25-21, on an Ortiz basket with seven minutes to play. Edinboro answered back to take a 29-26 lead with four minutes to play in the half. Meis then scored the final seven points for the Griffins as the game went into the halftime break tied at 33. Â
SHU used a 7-0 run capped off by a
Camden Brewer three pointer to take a 42-35 lead four minutes into the half. After the Scots cut the lead to four, SHU responded with an 11-0 run as they took control of the contest with a 53-38 lead with twelve minutes left. Â
The Griffins would push their lead to as many as 19 points and the lead never got below double digits as Seton Hill closed out the win. Â
Meis led the Griffins with a team high 26 points.Â
Gabe Gillespie added 14 points. Brewer also hit double figures with 10.
Seton Hill will host #23 Gannon on Saturday afternoon. Â
