Griffins Defeat #23 Gannon

Seton Hill hosted #23 Gannon on Saturday afternoon in a PSAC West matchup in the McKenna Center.

The Griffins outscored Gannon 47-34 in the second half of the contest as they defeated the Golden Knights 79-72.  SHU is now 12-8 overall and 5-7 in the PSAC while Gannon falls to 16-4 overall and 11-1 in the PSAC.  

Gannon used a 7-0 run to take an 11-5 lead over the Griffins in the first four minutes of the contest.  Ryan Meis then hit a three and Gage Lattimore scored five straight as SHU took a 13-11 lead with 14:15 left.  James Rice hit a three as SHU led 16-13 midway through the first half.  

The Golden Knights went on a 10-0 run as they built a 25-18 lead with 6:10 left in the half.  Gannon led 38-32 at the halftime break.  

The Griffins went on a 12-0 run over a less than two minute stretch as the Griffins went in front 54-48 with 12:53 to play.  Kedrick Curtis scored the first four points of the run.  Rice hit two threes to extend the lead to six.  Four straight from Curtis extended the lead to 60-52 with 9:15 to play.  Gannon trimmed the lead to 60-57 with 8:15 left but a layup from Gabe Gillespie and two Curtis free throws pushed the lead back to 64-57 with seven minutes to go.  

A jumper from Camden Brewer extended the lead to 71-61 with 5:26 left.  Over the next four minutes, Gannon cut the lead to 75-72 with 1:30 left.  Brewer scored the final four points of the game as SHU took the victory.  

Curtis led the Griffins with 24 points.  He added nine rebounds.  Meis finished with 13 points and Rice added 12 points.

SHU will travel to Pitt Johnstown on Wednesday evening for another PSAC West contest.
