Seton Hill continued their two game PSAC West homestand with a home matchup with California (PA) on Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center.
CalU jumped out to a 38-26 halftime lead and defeated the Griffins by the score of 81-73. The Griffins fall to 10-7 overall and 3-6 in the PSAC while CalU improves to 9-8 overall and 4-5 in the PSAC. Â
Over the first five minutes of the contest, there were three ties, one at 2, 4 and 6. Over the next two and a half minutes, the Vulcans went on a 10-0 run as they took a 16-6 lead with 12:31 to play in the first half. The Vulcans extended their lead to 11 at 23-12 at the midpoint of the first half. Â
A pair of three pointers from the Vulcans pushed their advantage to 15 points with just over five minutes to play in the half.Â
Ryan Meis hit a three pointer late in the half to trim the Vulcans lead to 38-26. Â
Early in the second half, the Vulcans extended their lead to 21 points before Meis hit back to back threes to trim the lead to 49-34 with 16:34 to play. Â
A three pointer from
James Rice and a pair of threes from
Gage Lattimore cut the lead to 67-56 with 6:42 to play. Another Meis three pointer made the score 69-61 at the five minute mark. Cal led by 13 points late before a basket from Lattimore and a four point play from Meis cut the lead to 77-70 with 47 seconds to play. CalU went 4-4 from the line to put the game away. Â
Meis led the Griffins with 23 points. Lattimore added 15 points.Â
Kedrick Curtis posted a double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Â
SHU will travel to Indiana (PA) next Saturday for another PSAC West matchup. Â
