Griffins Eliminated from PSAC Tournament Following 5-3 Loss to Shippensburg

Seton Hill began their defense of the PSAC title with a first round PSAC Tournament matchup with Shippensburg in Slippery Rock, PA.  The game began two and a half hours late because of the previous contest.

Shippensburg took an early 2-0 lead before the Griffins tied it at two but the Raiders scored three times in the eighth for a 5-3 win to eliminate the Griffins from the PSAC Tournament.  SHU is now 36-14 while Ship improves to 27-19.

The Griffins Jon McCullough and Shippensburg's Jaxon Dalena were both spectacular on the mound through the first four innings.

Shippensburg got to McCullough in the fifth.  They scored a pair of runs on four hits and a little shotty defense from the Griffins.  Andino Vecchiolla was able to get the Griffins out of the inning with a bases loaded strikeout.

The Griffins were able to get out of another bases loaded jam in the sixth inning when Noah Sweeney gunned down a Raider at the plate for the third out of the inning after a fly out.

SHU trimmed the lead in half with a leadoff solo shot from Elijah Snider that cleared the wall over the big SRU in straight away left field.

Seton Hill tied the game at two in the bottom of the seventh inning with an inside the park homer from Owen Mandler as Mandler rounded the bases on a liner that skipped by the center fielder.

Shippensburg answered right back in the top of the eighth inning, thanks to back to back walks to start the inning, a single, a wild pitch and a two out, two strike single as the Raiders scored three runs.

SHU scored a run in the ninth on an RBI single from Snider and had the winning run at the plate but a groundout ended the contest.

Jack Oberdorf and Snider each finished with two hits for the Griffins.  Snider drove in two runs.

The Griffins will now wait to see if they can earn an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The selections will be announced late on Sunday night.
