Aint It Super!! Six Run Seventh Inning Sends Griffins to NCAA Super Regional

Seton Hill continued play in the NCAA Atlantic Regional #2 in Stroudsburg at Creekview Park as they battled the host East Stroudsburg in the Atlantic Regional Final on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Griffins rallied for another time in the regional as they overcame a 3-2 deficit for a 4-3 win in game one of the regional final.  The Griffins trailed two one in game two and used a six run top of the seventh inning to defeat the Warriors and move on to the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional.  The Griffins are now 40-15 on the season.  
 
SHU jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on the Warriors in the bottom of the first inning.  Back to back book rule doubles from Owen Henne and Jack Oberdorf gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead.  Owen Mandler singled to put runners on first and third and Matt Frazetta made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly. 
 
ESU answered back in the top of the second inning.  The Warriors scored three times, again doing all their damage after two outs.  The big hit was a three run bomb from the nine hitter to put the Warriors in front 3-2. 
 
The Griffins tied the game in the fourth.  Max Mandler singled to lead off the inning.  Jakob Haynes reached on an error with Mandler moving to third.  Noah Sweeney then executed a perfect bunt to score Mandler and tie the game at three.   
 
SHU took the lead in the fifth inning.  Owen Mandler singled to center field to lead off the inning.  Frazetta singled thru the left side to put runners on first and second.  Elijah Snider with a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up.  Mandler scored on an RBI ground out from Owen Sabol to give SHU a 4-3 lead. 
 
Andino Vecchiolla with four scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.  He allowed four hits and struck out one.  Michael Marinchak went 1.1 scoreless to earn the save.  He struck out two.  Owen Mandler had three hits in the win. 
 
East Stroudsburg took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with just one hit, thanks to two hit batters. 
 
SHU responded in the top of the second inning on a one out solo blast from Snider to left center field that tied the game at one. 
 
ESU retook the lead in the bottom of the second inning.  The Griffins tied the game at two in the fourth.  With two outs, Snider drew a walk and stole second.  He scored on an RBI single from Max Mandler. 
 
The Griffins had first and third with no one out in the top of the sixth but a strikeout throw em out and another strikeout ended the inning. 
 
The Warriors then took advantage of a Griffin error in the bottom half of the inning to score an unearned run and take a 3-2 lead. 
 
SHU took advantage of a little shotty defense in the seventh as they scored six times.  Owen Sabol singled to lead off the inning.  Braden Durham reached on an error on a sac bunt.  Sweeney then loaded the bases on a bunt when the Warriors tried to get the out at third but no one was there.  Henne drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game at three.  After a fly out, Owen Mandler doubled to left center to put the Griffins in front 5-3.  After a pop out, Snider hammered the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to increase the Griffins lead to 8-3. 
 
Ian Korn with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.  Owen Mandler, Snider and Sabol each had two hits.  Snider drove in four and  
 
The Griffins will meet Indiana (PA) in next weekend's NCAA Atlantic Super Regional.
