Griffins Sweep Four Game Set From UPJ

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play as they hosted Pitt Johnstown in a doubleheader to close out the four game set on Sunday afternoon. 
 
SHU scored six times in the fourth for a 6-2 win in game one of the doubleheader.  The Griffins completed the four game sweep with a 5-4, 8 inning walk off win in game two.  SHU is now 21-9 overall and 8-4 in the PSAC West. 
 
Pitt Johnstown took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning. 
 
SHU responded with six runs in their half of the fourth inning.  Owen Mandler singled to lead off the inning.  Owen Sabol and Elijah Snider followed with singles to load the bases.  Jakob Haynes doubled to score two and tie the game.  Noah Sweeney then executed a squeeze play to give the Griffins the lead 3-2.  Jack Whalen added a two RBI double and later scored on a throwing error to extend the SHU lead to 6-2. 
 
Owen Henne had two hits to lead SHU.  Haynes and Whalen each drove in two.  Aidan Layton earned his fourth win.  He struck out three.  Michael Marinchak struck out five of the six batters he faced. 
 
SHU scored twice in the bottom of the first inning of game two.  With one out, Henne drew a walk and stole second.  Jack Oberdorf drew a walk.  Max Mandler reached on a fielders choice and stole second.  Both Mandler and Henne scored on a Snider single. 
 
The Griffins added another run in the second.  Owen Sabol drew a lead off walk.  With one out Noah Sweeney singled.  Whalen followed with an RBI single to give SHU a 3-0 lead. 
 
UPJ scored once in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1.  The Mountain Cats tied the game at three with two runs in the top of the seventh.  UPJ took the lead with a run in the top of the eighth. 
 
Seton Hill won the game in the bottom of the eighth.  Oberdorf and Max Mandler walked to start the inning.  They both stole a bag and Snider walked to load the bases.  Sabol tied the game at four with a sacrifice fly.  Owen Mandler followed with a walk off single to right center on an 0-2 pitch. 
 
Snider drove in two in the win.  Michael Marinchak earned the win with the final inning of work. 
 
The Griffins will continue play on Tuesday afternoon as they host Fairmont State in a non conference matchup.
