Women’s Lacrosse Clinches PSAC West Title with Win at Mercyhurst

Seton Hill traveled to Mercyhurst on Saturday morning for another important PSAC West contest as the Griffins looked to clinch one of the PSAC Postseason spots in the western division standings.
 
The Griffins used a 10-2 second quarter as they defeated Mercyhurst 15-11.  With the victory, the Griffins are now 12-4 overall and 10-1 in the west.  The win clinches the PSAC Western Division title for the Griffins.  It's their fourth straight PSAC West title.  SHU will now host the PSAC Championships in Greensburg on May 10th and 12th
 
Neither team got off to a fast start as it took nearly seven minutes for the first goal of the contest.  Skylar Orlowski ended the scoreless streak with a goal with 8:02 to play in the first quarter. Mercyhurst answered back with three straight goals as they took a 3-1 lead with 4:05 to play in the quarter.  Tori Krapp ended the three goal run with a goal with 3:19 to play in the first. 
 
Orlowski opened the second quarter with a goal to tie the match at three.  The Lakers answered back thirty seconds later to take a 4-3 lead.  Back to back goals from Piper Conlan, just 31 seconds a part put the Griffins in front 5-4 with 12:07 to play.  The Griffins extended their lead to 6-4 on a goal from Mila Udovicic less than a minute after Conlan's second goal.  The run continued for the Griffins as they scored four more goals to extend their lead to 10-4 with three minutes left in the half.  Orlowski and Conlan scored the first two goals and Udovicic added the final two as SHU led 10-4. The Lakers scored a goal before Brooklyn Miller scored with 1:25 left to extend the lead to 11-5.  Ella Wroblewski scored with 28 seconds left to push the lead to seven. 
 
The Lakers outscored the Griffins 3-1 in the third period to trim the lead to 13-8.
 
Mercyhurst scored just 11 seconds into the fourth period as they trailed 13-9.  SHU responded with two straight, one from Grace Agnello and one from Sydney Marusko as they pushed the lead to 15-9 with 6:47 to play. 
 
Orlowski led the offense with four goals and an assist.  Udovicic and Conlan each scored three.  Udovicic added four assists.  Allison Hathaway with 11 saves in the win.
 
The Griffins conclude the regular season on Wednesday afternoon as they host Indiana (PA) in PSAC West play.
