Seton Hill closed out the four game PSAC West series as they hosted to Slippery Rock for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins won game one by the score of 2-1. SHU completed the sweep with an 8-2 win in game two. The Griffins have now won eleven in a row. SHU is 33-12 overall and 17-7 in the west.
The Rock used a two out RBI single to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning of game one.
Seton Hill took the lead in the fifth.
Owen Henne with a one out double. He scored on a
Jack Whalen single to right. Whalen moved to second on the throw to the plate and later stole third. Whalen scored on a sacrifice fly from
Jack Oberdorf as SHU took a 2-1 lead.
Whalen and Oberdorf each drove in runs.
Aidan Layton went the distance, throwing a two hitter and striking out seven to earn his sixth win.
Slippery Rock took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the top of the second inning of game two.
The Griffins answered with four unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning, all after two outs.
Owen Mandler singled to lead off the inning and stole second. After two outs,
Matt Frazetta reached on an error.
Braden Durham singled to score Mandler and cut the lead to 2-1.
Owen Sabol walked to load the bases.
Jack Whalen drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game at two. Oberdorf followed with a ground rule double to score two and put the Griffins in front 4-2.
SHU added four more in the fourth. Durham singled and Sabol was hit by a pitch. Both stole a bag. Durham scored when Whalen singled. Oberdorf added a sacrifice fly to make it 6-2.
Joe Fiedor drove in a run with a bunt base hit and Snider made it 8-2 with a sacrifice fly.
Durham led the offense with two hits. Oberdorf drove in three and Whalen drove in two.
Ian Korn with three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
The Griffins will travel to Frostburg State for an important Atlantic Regional contest on Tuesday afternoon.
