Baseball Sweeps PSAC West Doubleheader at Slippery Rock

Seton Hill began a four game PSAC West series as they traveled to Slippery Rock for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon. 
 
The Griffins took game one of the doubleheader by the score of 6-2.  SHU completed the sweep of the Rock with a 1-0 win in game two.  SHU has now won nine in a row and is 31-12 overall and 15-7 in the west. 
 
The Rock scored first as they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. 
 
SHU responded right back with a five spot in the third.  Owen Sabol singled and stole second before Braden Durham cleared the 375 sign in left center field to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead.  SHU added three more runs all after two outs.  Jack Oberdorf singled and moved to third on a Max Mandler double.  Elijah Snider followed with a two RBI single.  Snider moved to second on a failed pickoff and then scored when Owen Mandler singled to put the Griffins in front 5-1. 
 
The Griffins added on in the fourth.  Sabol doubled to lead off the inning and scored when Durham singled thru the right side of the infield. 
 
The Rock scored the final run of the game in the sixth. 
 
Max Mandler, Sabol and Durham each had two hits.  Durham drove in three and Snider added two RBIs.  Brandon Bergert earned his fourth win of the season.  He went 5.1 innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out five.  Michael Marinchak threw the final 1.2 scoreless to earn the save.
 
The Griffins struck first in game two in the fifth inning.  Owen Henne singled with two outs He scored when Jack Whalen reached on an infield single with the throw going over the first baseman's head and rolling down the right field line. 
 
The game ended in a special fashion with Max Mandler throwing out the runner at first after a line drive would be single to right.
 
Jon McCullough earned the win with a complete game shutout.  He allowed four hits while striking out six. 
 
The Griffins will conclude the four game set with Slippery Rock with a doubleheader in Greensburg on Saturday afternoon.
