Seton Hill traveled to West Virginia for an important Atlantic Regional contest at Salem on Tuesday afternoon.
The Griffins used the long ball as they defeated Salem by the score of 6-2. SHU improves to 29-12 overall while Salem falls to 26-15.
SHU took the lead in the second inning of the contest.
Matt Frazetta singled and
Elijah Snider was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. After a double play,
Braden Durham singled to score Frazetta with two outs and get the Griffins on the board.
The Griffins added another run in the seventh on a lead off bomb from Durham to extend the lead to 2-0.
Seton Hill added four more in the eighth. Snider singled to lead off the inning and
Owen Sabol reached on an error to put two runners on.
Joe Fiedor drew a one out walk to load the bases.
Jack Whalen reached on a fielders choice to keep the bases loaded with the Griffin getting out at the plate.
Jack Oberdorf then hit a grand slam to give SHU a 6-0 lead.
Salem picked up two runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the lead to 6-2.
Oberdorf, Frazetta and Durham each had two hits.
SHU will begin an important PSAC West series on Friday in Slippery Rock.
