Griffins Throttle West Liberty in Non Conference Tilt

Seton Hill took a break from conference play as they traveled to West Liberrty for a single non conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Seton Hill pounded out 15 hits in route to a 19-5 victory over West Liberty.  With the win, the Griffins improve to 24-12 overall. 
 
The Griffins scored in the first inning of the contest thanks to Jack Whalen.  He singled and moved to second on an error.  Whalen stole third and scored on a wild pitch. 
 
SHU added five more in the second.  Matt Frazetta walked and Owen Sabol and Joe Fiedor singled to load the bases.  Aidan Shephard was hit by a pitch and Whalen walked to force in runs.  Jack Oberdorf singled in two runs to make it 5-0.  Whalen scored on a wild pitch and SHU led 6-0. 
 
West Liberty added four runs in their half of the second to cut the lead to 6-4. 
 
The Griffins then scored seven times in the third.  Shephard drew another bases loaded walk.  Whalen doubled in a run to make it 9-4.  Max Mandler added a sacrifice fly and Elijah Snider hit a two run bomb to extend the lead to 12-4.  Braden Durham picked up a bases loaded walk for the seventh run. 
 
Oberdorf hit a solo homer in the fourth to extend the lead to 14-4. 
 
Jakob Haynes drove in two more in the seventh.  Owen Henne added the final three RBIs for the Griffins with a two run single in the seventh and a RBI ground out in the ninth. 
 
Oberdorf paced the offense with three hits and three RBIs.  Whalen and Sabol added two hits each. Nine pitchers combined for the win.  Seven of them threw shutout innings.  Christian Zilli struck out three in his inning of work. 
 
The Griffins will return to PSAC West play on Friday afternoon when they open a four game PSAC West set with Clarion.
