Seton Hill returned to PSAC West play as they began a four game set with Clarion with a home doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Griffins defeated Clarion 7-1 in game one. SHU complete the sweep with a 3-2 come from behind win in game two. SHU is now 26-12 overall and 11-7 in the west.
SHU got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning.
Owen Henne was hit by a pitch and stole second.
Jack Oberdorf gave SHU a 2-0 lead with a homer over the wall in left field.
Clarion answered back with a run of their own in the fourth to trim the lead in half to 2-1. SHU got that run right back in their half of the fourth. With two outs,
Matt Frazetta doubled.
Braden Durham followed with a double down the line to score Frazetta and give SHU a 3-1 lead.
The Griffins extended their lead in the fifth.
Max Mandler drew a one out walk. He later scored on a two out RBI double from
Owen Mandler.
SHU added on in the sixth inning. Durham singled with one out and scored on a triple to the right center field gap from Henne. Henne scored on a
Jack Whalen sacrifice fly. Oberdorf followed with a towering homer to left field that extended the lead to 7-1.
Oberdorf led the offense with 3 hits and 3 RBI including 2 homers. Frazetta and Durham with two hits each.
Brandon Bergert earned the win. He struck out seven.
Whalen got the Griffins on the board in game two. He singled and stole second while moving to third on an error. He scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
Clarion scored on a wild pitch in the second to tie the game at one. The Golden Eagles took advantage of an error and two wild pitches to take a 2-1 lead over the Griffins in the fourth.
SHU retook the lead in the fifth. With one out, Henne singled. He scored on a two run shot to left center field from Whalen that gave SHU a 3-2 lead.
Whalen led the offense going 3-3 with the homer and two RBIs.
Jon McCullough earned the win with the complete game effort. He allowed three hits and one earned run while striking out five.
The Griffins will continue the four game set with Clarion with a road doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
