Seton Hill continued PSAC West play with a doubleheader in Greensburg against Gannon on Friday afternoon.
Gannon defeated the Griffins 11-1 in six innings in game one of the doubleheader. The Griffins got some timely hits and used the pitching of
Logan Hartman for a 5-0 win in game two. SHU is now 18-8 overall and 6-2 in the PSAC West.
Gannon took an early 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the top of the first inning with a two run shot to left center field.
SHU responded with a run in their half of the first inning.
Camryn Murphy doubled with one out and scored on a single to right from
Morgan Toal.
Gannon added six runs in the fourth to increase their lead to 8-1. They used two homers in the inning. The Knights added three more in the sixth to increase their lead to 11-1.
Grandey led the Griffins with two hits.
Seton Hill took the lead in game two in the second inning.
Kassidy Wittig homered to lead off the inning.
Abby Smearman singled and
Mackenzie Zang doubled to put runners on second and third.
Bre Athey knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly and
Nina Grandey made it 3-0 with an RBI single.
The Griffins added on in the fifth. Wittig, who reached on a fielders choice, scored on a double from Smearman as the Griffins increased their lead to 4-0.
SHU picked up an insurance run in the sixth. Grandey led off with a double and later scored on a two out, RBI infield single from Toal.
Hartman was spectacular in the circle with the complete game effort. She scattered five hits and struck out a career high 11 while not walking a hitter. Gannon only had one hitter reach third base in the game.
Grandey led the offense with three hits. Wittig and Smearman added two hits each.
The Griffins will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to CalU.
