Seton Hill continued PSAC West play with a doubleheader in Greensburg against Edinboro on Thursday afternoon.
The Griffins defeated Edinboro 11-1 in five innings of game one. SHU completed the sweep with a 14-0, five inning win in game two. SHU is now 17-7 overall and 5-1 in the west.
The Griffins took an early lead over Edinboro with a one out solo homer to left center from
Camryn Murphy.
Grace Paredes was hit by a pitch.
Brooklyn Fukushima walked to put two runners on.
Kassidy Wittig doubled to score Paredes and
Brooke Cleland followed with a two RBI double to give SHU a 4-0 lead.
SHU added four more in the second. With one out,
Nina Grandey reached on a bunt single. Murphy singled to put runners on second and third. Grandey scored on a Paredes sacrifice fly.
Morgan Toal walked to put two runners on. Murphy scored when Fukushima reached on an error. Wittig made it 8-0 with a two RBI double.
Seton Hill added a run in the third on an infield single from Grandey that score
Mackenzie Zang who tripled.
SHU picked up two runs in the fourth.
Alexis Bonatch singled to lead off the inning.
Lacey Lynn doubled to put runners on second and third.
Olivia Calvetti doubled to score both runners and give SHU a 11-0 lead.
Grandey, Murphy and Wittig each had two hits.
Lauren Dellett went the distance to earn the win. She struck out nine.
The Griffins scored five times in the bottom of the first of game two. With one out, Murphy and Paredes went back to back jacks to center field to give SHU a 2-0 lead. Toal walked and Fukushima singled to put two runners on. Witting singled to score Toal. Fukushima scored on a throwing error and Wittig scored on an RBI ground out from Cleland as SHU took the 5-0 lead.
SHU added five more in the second.
Bre Athey and Grandey reached on bunt base hits. Murphy walked to load the bases. Toal then reached on a fielders choice with three runners scoring on two errors. Fukushima added an RBI ground out Cleland closed out the scoring with an RBI single.
Seton Hill increased their lead to 13-0 in the third. Athey and Grandey singled to lead off the inning. Athey and Murphy executed a double steal for the first run.
Abby Smearman and Wittig each added RBI singles.
Zang hit a leadoff homer to left center in the fourth to increase the lead to 14-0.
Angelina LaMarca knocked in two with a double and Smearman made it 17-0 with an RBI single.
Wittig and Athey each had three hits. Grandey, Smearman and Fukushima each added two hits.
Logan Hartman earned her ninth win of the season with the complete game effort.
The Griffins will return to action on Friday when they host Gannon.
