Seton Hill continued PSAC West play with a doubleheader in Johnstown against Pitt Johnstown on Tuesday afternoon.
Seton Hill took game one of the doubleheader by the score of 11-4. The Griffins completed the sweep of UPJ with a 12-4, 6 inning win in game two. SHU is now 15-7 overall and 3-1 in the west.
The Griffins jumped all over UPJ in the first inning of game one.
Nina Grandey and
Camryn Murphy singled and both scored on a towering homer to left field from
Grace Paredes that gave the Griffins an early 3-0 lead.
SHU added three more in the second.
Mackenzie Zang singled and stole second.
Abby Smearman walked. Zang scored on a Grandey single. After the two runners moved up on a fly out, Paredes drove in two to extend the Griffin lead to 6-0.
The Griffins added a single run in the third on an RBI groundout from
Lauren Dellett.
Pitt Johnstown scored three in the third and added one in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-4.
SHU added an insurance run on an RBI double from
Kassidy Wittig. SHU added three more in the seventh.
Morgan Toal had an RBI single in the inning.
Paredes was 4-4 with five RBI. Grandey and Toal each added two hits. Dellett earned the win in the circle. She struck out 12.
The Griffins scored in the top of the first inning of game one. Paredes singled with two outs and scored on a double from Toal.
UPJ scored one in the first and two in the second to take a 3-1 lead over the Griffins.
SHU took the lead with five runs in the third inning. Murphy hit a two run shot to left center field to tie the game at three. Fukushima added an RBI single and Zang knocked in the final two runs of the inning with a double.
The Griffins added two more in the fourth. Toal doubled to score Paredes who walked. Toal scored when Fukushima reached on an error.
Bre Athey knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
SHU made it 12-4 in the sixth. Murphy hit a leadoff homer and Fukushima followed with a two run shot to center.
Murphy, Paredes, Toal and Fukushima each had two hits. Murphy and Fukushima each drove in three.
Logan Hartman earned the win in the circle.
The Griffins will return to action on Thursday when they host Edinboro.
