Seton Hill took a break from PSAC West play as they hosted Shippensburg in a non conference nine inning contest on Tuesday afternoon.
The Griffins scored five times in their final two at bats as they walked off the Raiders in a 6-5 come from behind victory. SHU is now 15-7 overall while Ship falls to 14-9.
Shippensburg took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the top of the third inning. The added a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead over the Griffins.
SHU got a run in the sixth on an RBI single from
Matt Frazetta.
The Griffins then began their comeback in the eighth.
Max Mandler singled and
Braden Durham doubled to put runners on second and third.
Owen Henne followed with a two RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.
Colin Ahr walked and later Henne scored on a
Jack Whalen RBI groundout that trimmed the lead to 5-4.
SHU then won the game in the ninth.
Jack Oberdorf singled to start the inning.
Owen Sabol was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. Both moved up on a wild pitch.
Max Mandler was intentionally walked to load the bases. After a popout, Henne was hit by a pitch to force in a run and tie the game. Ahr then drew a walk to force in the winning run.
Oberdorf,
Max Mandler, Durham and Frazetta each had two hits. Henne drove in three.
Michael Marinchak and
Christian Zilli combined for three scoreless innings.
The Griffins will return to PSAC West play this weekend with a four game set with California (PA).
