Men's Basketball Closes Regular Season with Loss to #5 Gannon

Seton Hill closed out the regular season with a home contest with #5 Gannon in PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon.  

Gannon pulled away in the second half for an 84-75 victory over the Griffins.  SHU is now 16-12 overall and 11-11 in the PSAC while Gannon improves to 26-2 overall and 20-2 in the PSAC.  

SHU took an early 8-5 lead on three pointers from Ryan Meis and Dimitrios Sklavenitis.  Two Brian Belade free throws pushed the lead to 10-5 at the sixteen minute mark.  Back to back buckets from Sean Dillon and Jimmy Moon extended the lead to 17-10 with 14 minutes to play.  SHU led 24-17 midway thru the first half on a three pointer from James Rice.  

Gannon used an 8-0 run to tie the score at 30 with 7:26 to play.  A three from Dillon gave SHU a 35-32 lead with six minutes to play.  Gannon led 43-40 at the half.  

With the score tied at 46, SHU went on a quick 7-0 run to take a 53-46 lead.  Sklavenitis hit a three and Belade added a layup to close out the run.  Gannon then scored nine straight to take a 55-53 lead with 14:32 to play.  Gannon led 60-58 midway through the half.  

Two Kedrick Curtis free throws and another Sklavenitis three cut the lead to 71-70 with just over four minutes to play.  Gannon answered with seven straight to take an eight point lead.  The Knights then hit six of eight free throws to close out the game.  

Sklavenitis led SHU with 30 points.  Dillon added nine.

SHU will take on third seed Slippery Rock in the first round of the PSAC Tournament on Monday night at 7 PM.
