Men's Basketball Season Ends in PSAC Tournament

Seton Hill made the trip to Slippery Rock for the PSAC First Round matchup with the Rock on Monday evening.  

The Griffins led 66-58 with 4:46 to play but the Rock outscored the Griffins 13-9 over the final 4:49 to defeat the Griffins 71-69 and eliminate the Griffins from the PSAC Tournament.  SHU ends the season with a 16-13 record while the Rock improves to 16-13.  

Both teams got off to quick starts offensively with the Griffins leading 12-9 just five minutes into the contest.  Back to back three pointers from Jimmy Moon and Drew Green gave SHU a 18-14 lead midway through the half.

Back to back baskets from Dimitrios Sklavenitis and Caleb Whitaker put the Griffins in front 25-20 with 4:07 to play in the first half.  The Rock scored five of the final seven points of the half to take a 31-29 lead over the Griffins into the halftime break.  

Back to back three pointers from James Rice and Ryan Meis gave SHU a 38-37 lead less than five minutes into the half.  The Rock then led 48-40 with 12:58 to play.  Midway through the half, the Rock led 53-47.  

Sean Dillon hit a three pointer and Brian Belade scored six straight for the Griffins as they tied the score at 56 with 7:55 to play.  A three point play from Meis, a Whitaker layup and Dillon three resulted in an 8-0 run which allowed SHU to lead 64-56 with 5:47 to play.  Dillon extended the lead to 66-58 with 4:46 to play.  The Rock would then outscore the Griffins 13-3 to steal the win.  They hit the game winner with 3.7 seconds to play.

Meis led the Griffins with 14 points.  Whitaker finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.  Green added nine.
