Seton Hill returned home from their Florida Trip with a non conference doubleheader against West Liberty on Thursday afternoon.

After the Griffins scored four times in the bottom of the sixth, West Liberty responded for four runs in the seventh to defeat the Griffins by a 9-6 score. SHU responded with a 13-4 win in game two to split the doubleheader. SHU is now 12-6 overall while WLU falls to 3-13 overall.Â

West Liberty batted around in the top of the first inning and took advantage of two Griffin errors as they scored five times to take a 5-0 lead over the Griffins.

The Griffins scored once in their half of the first inning as they trimmed the lead to 5-1.Â
Camryn Murphy singled and moved to second on a passed ball. Murphy scored on a single to right field from
Morgan Toal. Murphy added a solo shot to left field to cut the lead to 5-2 in the third inning.Â

SHU woke up the bats in the sixth inning as they took their first lead of the game. After one out,
Grace Paredes singled and Toal drew a walk.Â
Brooke Cleland cleared the bases with a double to left center field that cut the West Liberty lead to 5-4.Â
Brooklyn Fukushima then homered off the top of the fence in left field to give the Griffins a 6-5 lead.Â

West Liberty responded with two out, two run homer in the top of the seventh to take a 7-6 lead over the Griffins.  The Hilltoppers added two more runs on a double to increase their lead to 9-6.Â

In the SHU seventh, Toal doubled in Murphy to cut the lead to 9-7.Â

Toal had three hits to lead the Griffins. Murphy had two hits. Fukushima, Toal and Cleland each drove in two.Â

The Griffins scored seven times in the bottom of the seventh inning as they took a 7-0 lead. Fukushima led off the inning with a single.Â
Kassidy Wittig was hit by a pitch.Â
Mackenzie Zang singled to load the bases. Fukushima scored when
Bre Athey reached on a fielders choice.Â
Nina Grandey singled to reload the bases. Zang scored on a sacrifice fly from Murphy. Two runs scored when Paredes reached on an error. Cleland gave SHU a 7-0 lead with a three run bomb to left center.Â

West Liberty got one run back in the top of the third to cut the lead to 7-1. The Hilltoppers added three more in the fourth on a three run homer to cut the lead to 7-4.Â

SHU broke the game open in the fifth. Murphy singled to lead off the inning. Paredes singled to move Murphy to third. Toal reached on catchers interference to load the bases. Cleland knocked in one with a single. Fukushima and Wittig had back to back two RBI doubles to extend the Griffin lead to 12-4. Zang followed with an RBI single to make it 13-4.Â

Zang went 3-3 to lead the offense. Murphy, Cleland and Fukushima each added two hits. Cleland drove in four.Â
Logan Hartman improved to 7-2 on the season with the complete game victory. She struck out two.

The Griffins will return to action on March 19
th when they host Clarion to open PSAC West play.Â
