Rally Comes Up Short at #19 Kutztown

Seton Hill began their 2024 season on the road at #19 Kutztown on Thursday afternoon in a non conference matchup. 
 
SHU rallied from 13-8 down in the third quarter but came up just short in a 14-12 loss to #19 Kutztown. 
 
Carleigh Sutfin got the Griffins on the board first just 17 seconds into the contest on a free position shot.  Kutztown then answered back with six straight goals to take a 6-1 lead with 3:39 to play in the first quarter.  Sutfin scored her second free position goal of the game at the 2:37 mark to trim the lead to 6-2.  In the last minute of the quarter, Skylar Orlowski scored a man up goal and Grace Agnello scored with ten seconds left to cut the lead to 6-4. 
 
The Golden Bears scored the first goal of the second quarter to extend their lead to 7-4.  Sutfin scored a man up goal and Piper Conlan added a free position goal to cut the lead to 7-6 with 11:38 to play in the half.  The Golden Bears ran off three straight to extend their lead to 10-6 but the Griffins got a free position goal from Orlowski and a goal from Conlan with three seconds left to cut the lead to 10-8 at the half. 
 
Kutztown opened the third quarter scoring the first three goals as they built their lead to 13-8.  Ruby DePalma scored a man up goal on a free position shot with 6:28 to play to trim the lead to 13-9.  Orlowski cut the lead to three with a goal with 1:22 to play in the third.
 
Back to back goals from Orlowski and Sutfin, two minutes apart, cut the Bears lead to 13-12 with 11:02 to play.  Kutztown pushed their lead to 14-12 with a goal as the shot clock was just about to expire with 1:13 to play. 
 
Orlowski and Sutfin scored four times and added an assist.  Conlan added two goals.  Mila Udovicic led SHU with nine draw controls. 
 
The Griffins will head to Florida for Spring Break and will play St Leo on Monday night.
