Griffins Sweep D'Youville in Non Conference Action

Seton Hill returned home for a non conference doubleheader with D'Youville on Sunday afternoon in Greensburg.      
 
The Griffins won game one by the score of 11-0 in five innings.  SHU completed the sweep of the Saints with a 9-1 win in game two in six innings.  SHU is now 8-2 overall. 
 
SHU took a lead in the first inning of game one.  Nina Grandey singled and stole second and third and scored on a two out double from Morgan Toal.  Toal later scored when Grace Paredes reached on an error to give SHU a 2-0 lead.  Lauren Dellett made it 3-0 with a double to left center field.
 
The Griffins added three more in the third.  Camryn Murphy doubled and scored on a two run homer from Grace ParedesLauren Dellett followed with a solo shot to center to give SHU a 6-0 lead. 
 
SHU added five more in the fourth inning.  Grandey and Mackenzie Zang singled with one out.  They both scored on a three run blast from Murphy to make it 9-0.  Brooke Cleland added a two run two out single to increase the lead to 11-0. 
 
Grandey, Murphy, Toal, Paredes and Dellett each had two hits.  Murphy drove in three with a double and homer.  Toal had two doubles and Dellett had a double and homer.  Lauren also earned the win in the circle with the complete game one hitter.  She struck out four.
 
D'Youville struck first in game two with a run in the top of the first inning.  The Griffins answered with three runs in their half of the first.  Grandey reached on a bunt single and stole second.  She scored on a Murphy double.  Toal followed with an RBI double and later scored on an error to give SHU a 3-1 lead. 
 
SHU added on in the fourth inning.  Paredes singled to lead off the inning.  Pinch runner Izabella Rodriguez scored on a two run shot to left center from Cleland as SHU extended its lead to 5-1. 
 
Zang led off the fifth inning with a solo shot to left to push the Griffins lead to 6-1.  Later in the inning, Paredes hit a solo shot to center to extend the lead to 7-1. 
 
SHU walked it off in the sixth.  Brooklyn Fukushima singled to lead off the inning and pinch hitter Angelina LaMarca singled to put runners on second and third.  Murphy singled to right field to end the game with a two RBI single. 
 
Zang, Murphy, Paredes and Cleland each had two hits.  Murphy knocked in three and Cleland knocked in two.  Logan Hartman earned the complete game win.  She allowed three hits and struck out four. 
 
The Griffins are scheduled to host West Liberty on Thursday in a non conference doubleheader.
