IUP Pulls Away in Second Half in PSAC West Victory

Seton Hill continued their two game PSAC West road trip with a matchup with Indiana (PA) on Wednesday evening in the KCAC. 
 
IUP scored 33 points in the third quarter as they were able to pull away in a 87-65 victory over the Griffins.  SHU falls to 13-12 overall and 10-9 in the PSAC while IUP improves to 19-5 overall and 15-4 in the PSAC. 
 
Five straight points from Helene Cowan gave SHU an early 5-2 lead.  Hallie Cowan hit a three and put the Griffins in front 10-7 with 7:22 to play in the half.  IUP ran off six straight points before a three point play from Abby Mankins tied the score at 13 with 4:29 to play.  IUP scored the final eight points of the quarter as they took a 23-15 lead after one. 
 
The IUP lead flip flopped between six and eight in the early portion of the second quarter before IUP ran off eight straight to take a 35-21 lead midway through the quarter.  IUP pushed their lead to 15 before two Mankins free throws and two Hallie Cowan threes cut the lead to 40-31 with 1:27 to play.  IUP led 44-33 at the half.
 
The Griffins scored the first four points of the third quarter on baskets from Sakeria Harlason and Christiane Frye that cut the lead to 44-37.  IUP then went on a 15-0 run over a three minute stretch to take a 59-39 lead with 6:17 to play.  Corrine Eisner scored back to back baskets and Frye scored four points in the final minute of the quarter but the Griffins trailed 77-50 after three. 
 
Hallie Cowan led the Griffins with 18 points.  Christiane Frye also reached double figures with 17.  Haralson pulled down 11 rebounds. 
 
The Griffins will continue PSAC West action on Saturday afternoon when they host Edinboro.
