Seton Hill Rallies for 13-8 Win at Francis Marion

Seton Hill concluded their three game set in Florence, SC as they battled Francis Marion in a single nine inning contest on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Seton Hill scored 11 times in their final four at bats as the Griffins as they rallied for a 13-8 victory over the Patriots. 
 
The Patriots took advantage of four walks then added two hits later in the inning as they scored four times in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead over the Griffins. 
 
Seton Hill got a run back in the top of the fourth inning.  Jack Whalen drew a leadoff walk and stole second.  After a strikeout, Whalen scored on a Jack Oberdorf triple.  The Patriots got that run back in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. 
 
SHU cut the lead to three in the fifth.  Owen Sabol doubled to lead off the inning.  He moved to third on a fly out from Jared Dowey and scored on a sacrifice fly from Jakob Haynes to make it 5-2.  Francis Marion got that run back right in the bottom half of the inning. 
 
In the SHU sixth, Whalen singled and stole second and third.  Max Mandler walked and stole second to put runners on second and third.  Whalen scored on an Oberdorf sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 6-3.  Owen Mandler then walked to put runners on first and third with one out.  After another strikeout, the Mandlers moved up on a wild pitch with Max scoring to trim the lead to 6-4.  Sabol then drew a walk to put runners back on first and third with two outs.  Dowey doubled to the left center field gap to drive in two and tie the game at six. 
 
The game did not stay tied long as the Patriots scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-6 lead.  Elijah Snider singled to lead off the top of the seventh.  He stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Max Mandler sacrifice fly to make it 8-7. 
 
The Griffins took the lead with three runs in the eighth.  Braden Durham doubled to lead off the inning.  Sabol walked to put runners on first and second.  Dowey advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt.  Haynes doubled down the left field line to give SHU a 9-8 lead.  Colin Ahr followed with an RBI single to give SHU a 10-8 lead. 
 
SHU continued to add on in the ninth, all with two outs.  Max Mandler and Jack Oberdorf walked to lead off the inning.  Oberdorf was out at second when Owen Mandler reached on a fielders choice.  After a strikeout, Sabol doubled in two to give SHU a 12-8 lead.  Dowey followed with an RBI single and SHU led 13-8. 
 
Sabol and Dowey each had two hits.  Dowey drove in three and Sabol knocked in two.  Haynes added three RBIs and Oberdorf added two.  Michael Marinchak threw 2.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. 
 
The Griffins are scheduled to play their home opener next Saturday when they host Walsh in a doubleheader.
