Seton Hill honored four of its seniors as the Griffins hosted Clarion on Senior Day on the Hill on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins outscored the Golden Knights 47-31 in the second half as they rallied for an 82-72 victory over Clarion. SHU is now 13-10 overall and 10-7 in the PSAC.
Clarion jumped on the Griffins, scoring the first seven points of the contest. SHU then scored seven of the next eight as they trailed 8-7 midway through the quarter. The Golden Eagles went on a 7-0 run to take a 19-10 lead with 2:39 to play. A three pointer from
Helene Cowan cut the lead to 19-13 and Clarion led 21-15 after one quarter of action.
The Golden Eagles scored seven of the first nine points of the second quarter as they took a 28-17 lead just under three minutes into the quarter. The Griffins then went on a 9-0 run to trim the lead to 28-26 with 4:57 to play.
Christiane Frye scored four in the run.
Hallie Cowan tied the contest at 30 with a basket at the four minute mark but Clarion then went on an 11-5 run to take a 41-35 lead at the half.
Clarion led by eleven just under two minutes into the third quarter. Frye then began to take over the game as the Griffins went on a 15-0 run to take a 52-48 lead at the midway point of the quarter. Frye scored nine of the 15 points in the run.
Helene Cowan hit one of two free throws and
Hallie Cowan added two free throws as the Griffins completed an 18-0 run. The Griffins led 59-57 at the end of the quarter.
A basket from
Hallie Cowan, a three point play from
Helene Cowan and a
Paula Llovich jumper gave SHU a 68-59 lead with 7:17 to play. SHU then hit three straight threes from Llovich,
Abby Mankins and
Mairan Haggerty put the Griffins in front 77-61 with 4:12 to play.
Frye led the Griffins with a game high 20 points. Haralson posted a double double of 13 points and 17 rebounds.
Hallie Cowan tossed in 13 and Mankins finished with 11.
The Griffins will continue PSAC West action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Mercyhurst.
