Gensler Scores Twice in Final Minute as Griffins Win 11-10

Seton Hill began their 2024 season on the road in Rockville Center, NY with a matchup with Molloy on Saturday afternoon.
 
Peyton Gensler scored twice in the final minute, including the game winner with 10 seconds to play as the Griffins rallied for an 11-10 victory over the Lions. 
 
Carter Green scored for the Griffins to tie the contest at one at the 8:58 mark of the first quarter.  Gensler scored his first of the game with 2:46 to play in the first quarter.  That goal tied the game at two. 
 
Kaden Granberg opened the scoring in the second quarter to give SHU a 3-2 advantage.  After the Lions tied the score, Braedan Lockyer put the Griffins back in front 4-3 with 22 seconds to play in the half.  Molloy scored with nine seconds to play to tie the score at four. 
 
The Lions scored the first two of the third quarter as they took a 6-4 lead.  The Griffins responded with three straight to take a 7-6 lead.  Colin Socker scored a man up goal to open the run.  Granberg scored and Nate Herbster followed to give SHU the lead with 4:34 left.  Molloy tied the score at seven with a goal with four seconds left in the quarter. 
 
Herbster scored a man up goal to put the Griffins back in front 8-7 with 9:11 to play.  Molloy scored the next two to take a 9-8 lead with 5:39 to play.  Granberg tied the game at nine with a goal with 4:27 to play.  The Lions took a 10-9 lead at the 2:52 mark.  Gensler scored to tie the game at ten with 46 seconds left.  Mark Strunk then won the face off to give SHU the ball.  After a time out, Gensler ripped a shot with 10 seconds to go to give SHU the 11-10 lead.  Strunk then won another faceoff to close out the win. 
 
The Griffins outshot the Lions 50-33 and had 27 shots on goal to 16 for Molloy.  SHU won 15 of 25 faceoffs.  The Griffins were 2-3 on the man up. 
 
Gensler and Granberg scored three to lead the Griffins.  Herbster finished with two goals and three assists.  Connor Zostant had two assists.  Strunk won 15 of 24 faceoffs.  Will Cody recorded six saves in cage.
 
SHU will travel to Roberts Wesleyan next weekend for another non conference matchup.
