Curtis' 3/4 Court Buzzer Beater Caps off Late Rally

Seton Hill returned home as they hosted Glenville State in a non conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center.

The Griffins trailed 71-62 with 2:03 to play but Kedrick Curtis' three quarter buzzer beater capped off a rally that gave the Griffins a thrilling 73-72 come from behind win over the Pioneers.  SHU is now 7-2 overall while Glenville falls to 3-4 overall.

Glenville State took an early 8-4 lead over the Griffins just four minutes into the contest.  Ryan Meis hit a three pointer and Edir Ortiz followed with a basket as SHU took a 9-8 lead.  Glenville answered with an 8-2 run as they led 16-11 with 12:31 to play.  A three point play from Gabe Gillespie trimmed the lead to 18-17 midway through the half.

Two Kedrick Curtis free throws put the Griffins in front 19-18 but Glenville scored the next five points as they led 23-19 with 6:19 to play.  Curtis tied the game at 25 with 3:35 left in the half with a free throw.  The Pioneers led 32-28 at the halftime break.

Two three pointers from James Rice and one from Gage Lattimore gave the Griffins a 39-36 lead four minutes into the second half.  A three point play from Lattimore and a bucket from Kaspar Martenson extended the SHU lead to 44-41 with 14:14 left in the half.  The teams exchanged three pointers with Glenville leading 52-47 at the midpoint of the second half.

The Pioneers pushed the lead to 56-49 with 8:21 left.  The lead hovered between six and eight points until the Pioneers extended their lead to 71-62 with 2:03 to play.  Lattimore hit three free throws with 1:47 left to cut the lead to 71-65.  After a turnover, Curtis cut the lead to 71-67 with a minute to play.  Another Pioneer turnover led to a three pointer from Meis that cut the lead to 71-70 with 45 seconds to play.  Glenville missed a pair of free throws with 14 seconds to play but got an offensive rebound and then hit one of two to increase the lead to 72-70 with nine seconds to play.  SHU then called a timeout with a little over six seconds left and inbounds in front of their bench.  The inbounds pass to Curtis was knocked away and Curtis finally recovered the ball near the opposite free throw line and launched a 3/4 court shot that found nothing but the bottom of the net to give SHU a 73-72 come from behind win.

Lattimore led the Griffins with 17 points.  Curtis finished the game with 14 points.  Meis and Gillespie each added 11 points.

SHU will travel east for PSAC Crossovers next weekend.  The Griffins will play at Millersville and Kutztown.
