Seton Hill made the return to non conference play on Wednesday evening with a matchup at Malone.
The Griffins played a solid road contest as picked up the win over the Pioneers by the score of 79-66. SHU improves to 7-0 overall while the Pioneers fall to 5-2.
Malone took an early 7-5 lead over the Griffins less than two minutes into the contest. The Griffins used an 11-0 run as they built a 20-9 lead with 3:17 left in the quarter.
Mia Kalich scored four in the run and each Cowan sister hit a three pointer.
Shaye Bailey hit a three as the Griffins led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter.
After a three point play from the Pioneers to start the second quarter,
Abby Mankins answered with a three pointer. Kalich followed with a three point play as the Griffins built a 29-15 lead with nine minutes to play in the first half. Over the next three minutes, the Pioneers outscored the Griffins 9-2 to trim the lead to 31-24. SHU scored four straight to push their lead back to double figures. Malone answered with an 11-2 run to tie the score at 37 late in the quarter.
Paula Llovich hit a three with 37 seconds to play as SHU took a 40-37 halftime lead.
Christiane Frye scored the opening bucket and
Hallie Cowan followed with a basket as SHU built their lead to 44-37 early in the third quarter. SHU then used a 7-0 run over a 2:30 stretch as they built their lead to 51-40 with 3:49 left. SHU led 60-52 at the end of the third quarter.
Five straight points from
Corinne Eisner pushed the lead back to double figures early in the fourth quarter. Four straight points from Kalich and a three pointer from Eisner put the game away as SHU led 77-62 with 1:31 to play.
Kalich led the Griffins with a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Helene Cowan added 15 points. Eisner finished with 13 points and
Hallie Cowan was the fourth in double figures with 10.
SHU will continue non conference play on Saturday when they host Virginia State.
