Men's Basketball Drops Second Straight

Seton Hill continued PSAC play on Saturday afternoon with another home PSAC Crossover matchup as the Griffins hosted Shippensburg.

The Griffins held a slim halftime lead but the Raiders outscored the Griffins 47-39 in the second half as Shippensburg defeated the Griffins 83-77.  The Griffins are now 5-2 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC.  Ship improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.

Shippensburg took an early 8-2 lead over the Griffins less than two minutes into the half.  The Griffins answered with an 9-2 run to take an 11-10 lead with 15:36 to play.  SHU used three pointers from Gage Lattimore, Kedrick Curtis and Edir Ortiz to take the lead.  Five straight points from Curtis gave SHU an 18-14 lead with twelve minutes left in the half.  Shippensburg ended the first half of the first half on a 10-1 run as they took a 24-19 lead.

Lattimore scored six straight points for the Griffins as they cut the Raider lead to 32-31 with 3:15 left.  Ryan Meis hit a three and Brian Belade followed with a basket to push the Griffin lead to 36-32 with 1:41 left.  The Griffins led 38-36 at the halftime break.

A three pointer from Brandon Coury extended the Griffins lead to 47-40 with 16:47 left in the second half.  Ship got back to within two but the Griffins went on a 7-1 run as they took a 54-46 lead with 14 minutes to play.  Ship answered with a 10-0 run as they took a 56-54 lead with 11:49 to play.  Gabe Gillespie hit a three to put the Griffins back in front.  Belade gave SHU a 61-59 lead with ten minutes to play.  That would be the last lead the Griffins would hold.

Ship followed with a three at the 9:09 mark as they took a 62-61 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.  Two Curtis free throws got the Griffins back to within one but the Raiders scored four straight as they led 68-63 with 6:41 left.  Two Meis free throws and a Ortiz layup cut the lead to 68-67 with 6:23 left.  The Raiders then scored seven straight as they pushed their lead to eight with 4:39 left.  The Griffins would get no closer than six points down the stretch.

Curtis finished with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Meis finished with 14 points.  Lattimore added 13 points and Coury was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 10.
