Seton Hill began PSAC play as they hosted Shepherd in a PSAC Crossover on Friday evening in the McKenna Center.

Ryan Meis scored his 1,000th career point but it was not enough as Shepherd defeated the Griffins 70-62. SHU falls to 5-1 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC while Shepherd improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC. Â
Shepherd came out of the gates fast as they jumped on the Griffins and took an 11-2 lead less than four minutes into the contest, A layup from
Kaspar Martenson and a three from
Ryan Meis cut the lead to 13-9 with 14:11 left in the half. Another Meis three pointer trimmed the lead to 19-16 with eleven minutes remaining in the half. A
Kedrick Curtis basket cut the lead to two midway through the half. Â
The lead remained between two and four points for Shepherd over most of the remaining portions of the first half. Late in the half, five straight points from the Rams pushed their lead to seven before
Gage Lattimore hit a jumper at the buzzer to trim the lead to 37-32 at the halftime break.Â
Shepherd built their lead back to nine points at the first media timeout of the second half. With Shepherd up 52-44, the Griffins scored five straight on a Lattimore jumper and
Camden Brewer three pointer that cut the lead to 52-49 with just under ten minutes to play. Â
Meis answered a Shepherd three with a three of his own to score his 1,000th career point with 7:40 to play in the second half. That shot cut the Rams lead to 55-52. Over the next four minutes, the Rams were able to extend their lead to eight at 64-56 with 3:28 to play.Â
Edir Ortiz hit a pair of threes but the Rams went 6-6 from the line to close out the win. Â
Meis led the Griffins with 18 points. Curtis also reached double figures with 11 points.
The Griffins will continue PSAC play on Saturday when they host Shippensburg.Â
