Seton Hill continues non conference play with a road matchup at Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins used four players in double figures as they defeated the Senators by the score of 68-61. SHU is now 4-0 on the season while D&E falls to 1-3. Â
Davis & Elkins built an early 10-6 lead four minutes into the contest. Baskets from
Kedrick Curtis and
Brian Belade tied the score at ten with ten minutes to play in the half.Â
Ryan Meis gave the Griffins their first lead of the game at 13-12 with 8:43 left in the half. The Griffins closed the half on a 7-0 run to take a 29-20 halftime lead. Curtis opened the run with a dunk.Â
Gage Lattimore drained a three and Meis made a layup to cap the run. Â
The Senators scored the first four of the second half but SHU responded with a bucket from
Edir Ortiz and a three from Meis to push the lead back to nine, 34-25 with 18 minutes left in the half. The Senators used a 10-1 run to take a 45-42 lead with 11:21 to play. Two free throws from Curtis and two free throws from
James Rice put the Griffins back in front. Â
A layup from Belade and a three from Lattimore gave SHU a 53-47 lead with 8:23 to play. The Griffins put the game away with a 9-0 run that pushed their lead to 62-49 with 2:49 to play. Â
Lattimore led the Griffins with a double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Meis finished with 12 points. Curtis had a double double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ortiz also scored 10 points.
The Griffins will play their home opener on Monday evening against Salem.Â
