Seton Hill continued non conference play on Wednesday evening with a matchup at West Liberty.
The Griffins built an 18 point halftime lead and defeated the Hilltoppers by the score of 89-72. SHU is now 3-0 on the season.
In the middle portion of the first quarter, the Griffins went on a 9-0 run as they took a 16-6 lead with 3:26 to play.
Hallie Cowan had four points and
Sakeria Haralson added three in the run. Two jumpers from
Corinne Eisner pushed the lead to 22-8 with two minutes left in the quarter. SHU led 22-13 after one quarter of play.
Five points from
Mia Kalich keyed a 7-0 as SHU built a 29-13 lead early in the second quarter. SHU was able to push their lead to 18 points after four straight from
Christiane Frye. The Griffins led 45-27 at the halftime break.
Abby Mankins scored five points in the first two minutes of the third quarter as SHU took a 52-29 lead. Back to back three pointers from Frye and
Hallie Cowan extended the lead to 62-36 with 4:43 to play. The Griffins led by 22 points after three quarters of play.
West Liberty opened the fourth quarter with an 11-2 run over the first three minutes of play. A basket from
Shaye Bailey and two
Helene Cowan free throws pushed the lead back to 19 at 80-61 with six minutes to play.
Frye led four Griffins in double figures with 25 points. Kalich added 17 points. Mankins finished with a double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Hallie Cowan tossed in 12.
SHU will continue non conference play on Saturday at Frostburg State.
