Seton Hill continued PSAC West play with a short trip to CalU for a Friday evening matchup with the Vulcans.
The Griffins were able to make quick work of the Vulcans as they swept the conference match. SHU is now 13-2 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West.
The first set was a set of runs as each team strung together long runs of points throughout the set. The Griffins were able to make the final run of the set as they defeated the Vulcans 25-21 to open up a 1-0 lead.
Seton Hill took an early 4-2 lead in the second set on two kills from
Catie Flohr. An early run in the set gave SHU a 12-8 lead. A
Kendyl Wagner ace highlighted the run. A kill from
Ella Deeter extended the Griffins lead to 14-9 forcing a CalU timeout. The run continued with another Deeter kill, an
Abby Oesterling ace and a kill from Flohr as SHU built a 17-9 lead. Another Flohr kill and an ace from
Paige Cole pushed the lead to 19-11 and the Vulcans called their final timeout. A kill from
Savannah Schwarz gave SHU a set point at 24-15. SHU took a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 second set win.
The Griffins took the lead in the third set with a 3-0 run on a block from
Emma Meurer/Oesterling, a Meurer kill and a Cole ace as the Griffins led 7-5. California battled back to take a 15-13 lead in the set. Seton Hill answered with five straight behind a
Payton Rodberg block and kill as they took an 18-15 lead. Back to back Cole kills extended the lead to 20-16. Schwarz ended the match with a kill.
Cole led the Griffins with 12 kills. Deeter finished with 10 kills. Rodberg added nine and Flohr finished with eight. Oesterling led the offense with 31 assists. She also had four aces.
Maddie Stout led SHU with 15 digs. Oesterling added 13.
The Griffins will return to action on Monday when they host Malone in a non conference matchup.
