Seton Hill hosted CalU on Tuesday evening in PSAC West play looking to end a two game skid.
The Griffins ended the two game losing streak with a four set victory over the Vulcans. Seton Hill is now 18-5 overall and 7-3 in the west.
SHU jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set on three kills from
Ella Deeter and two from
Catie Flohr. Late in the set, CalU got back to within three but the Griffins used a 4-0 run to take a 21-14 lead in the set. Kills from
Payton Rodberg and Flohr gave SHU a 1-0 lead with a 25-19 first set win.
CalU took an early lead in the second set and led SHU 12-8. From that point on in the set, the Griffins outscored the Vulcans 17-5 as they took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 second set win.Â
The Vulcans again took an early lead in the third set as they built a 10-6 lead. SHU cut the lead to three but a pair of 3-0 runs for the Vulcans gave them the third set by the score of 25-18.
Seton Hill took an early lead, 4-2, in the fourth set behind two kills from
Elysia Smith. Cal battled back and took a 20-18 lead over the Griffins. A
Paige Cole kill and Flohr ace tied the set at 20. Three straight kills from Cole gave SHU a 23-22 lead. Cal then tied the set at 23, 24 and 25 before kills from Smith and Cole gave SHU the match with a 27-25 fourth set win.
Cole led SHU with 23 kills. Flohr finished with 17. Rodberg added nine.Â
Abby Oesterling ran the offense with 43 assists. Cole had 21 digs to lead SHU. Oesterling and
Maddie Stout finished with 13.Â
Kendyl Wagner added 11.
Seton Hill will travel to Slippery Rock on Friday evening for another PSAC West match. Â
