Volleyball Wins Five Set Battle at Edinboro

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play with a trip to Edinboro for a Friday evening matchup with the Fighting Scots. 

The Griffins won the final two sets for a 3-2 victory over the Fighting Scots.  SHU is now 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the west.

The first set was tightly played throughout until the end.  SHU and Edinboro were tied at 17 when the Griffins closed the set on an 8-0 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 first set win.  Catie Flohr had two kills and Maddie Stout added an ace during the run.  

Edinboro jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the second set and never trailed in the set as they evened the match at one with a 25-21 second set win.  The Fighting Scots ended the third set on a 13-5 run as they took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-13 third set win.

The Griffins took an early 9-4 lead in the third set behind three kills from Elysia Smith.  Another Smith kill gave the Griffins a 17-10 lead in the set.  Edinboro responded with a 12-4 run to take a 22-21 lead.  SHU was able to survive the set after kills from Flohr and Paige Cole gave them a 28-26 fourth set win to tie the match at two.  

SHU took an early 4-1 lead in the fifth on back to back kills from Smith.  Kills from Ella Deeter and Flohr extended the Griffins lead to 10-5.  Back to back aces from Abby Santacroce gave the Griffins the fifth set with a 15-7 win.  

Cole led SHU with 18 kills. Catie Flohr added 13 kills and Ella Deeter finished with 10. Elysia Smith added 9. Abby Oesterling with 32 assists and Deeter added 25. Maddie Stout and Cole each with 17 digs.

The Griffins will return to action on Tuesday when they host Point Park in a non conference matchup.
