Seton Hill kicked off 2024 and closed out PSAC Crossover action as they hosted Millersville on Wednesday evening in Greensburg.
Millersville defeated the Griffins by the score of 78-71 to earn the PSAC win. The Marauders are now 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC while the Griffins drop to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC.
The Griffins jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead just two minutes into the contest on baskets from
Ryan Meis and
Caleb Whitaker and a three from Meis. Less than two minutes later, the Marauders tied the score at seven. SHU then went on a 10-0 run to take a 17-7 lead with 9:46 to play in the half.
Camden Brewer scored the first four points of the run.
A three pointer from
Drew Green gave SHU a 27-18 advantage with 5:29 left in the half. Five straight from
Dimitrios Sklavenitis extended the lead to 32-20 at the four minute mark. Over the final four minutes, the Marauders outscored the Griffins 16-3 to take a 36-35 halftime lead.
A Whitaker free throw and another Green three pointer put the Griffins in front 39-36 early in the second half. Four straight free throws from Millersville extended their lead to 47-41 at the 14 minute mark.
Ryan Meis drilled a three pointer to tie the score at 53 at the midway point of the half.
Four straight points from
Sean Dillon gave SHU a 59-58 lead with 8:17 to play in the half. After the four minute media timeout, Meis hit all three of his free throws to tie the score at 66. Meis stopped a 4-0 Millersville run with a three to cut the lead to 70-69 with 2:34 to play. Millersville was able close out the game with a 8-2 run.
Meis led the Griffins with 15 points. Green finished with 13 points. Whitaker posted a double double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Seton Hill will begin PSAC West play on Saturday when they host Slippery Rock.
