Seton Hill ended a short two game homestand as they hosted Indiana (PA) on Wednesday evening in the McKenna Center.
IUP hit 15 of their 29 three pointers as they defeated the Griffins by the score of 81-73. IUP improves to 12-5 overall and 9-2 in the PSAC while the Griffins drop to 10-7 overall and 5-6 in the PSAC.  Â
Â
Back to back three pointers from
Ryan Meis and
Drew Green gave SHU an early 8-5 lead over the Crimson Hawks. A tip in from Green and a three pointer from
James Rice extended the Griffins lead to 15-10 at the 14:15 mark of the first half. After IUP tied the score at 15,
Jimmy Moon and
Dimitrios Sklavenitis pushed the lead back to four at 19-15 with 12:12 to play. Five straight from IUP gave them a 25-21 lead at the midway point of the half.Â
Â
IUP was able to extend their lead to 33-26 with 5:20 to play before the half. The Crimson Hawks built their lead to as many as eight over the final five minutes but a layin from
Kedrick Curtis at the buzzer cut the deficit to 40-34 at the halftime break.Â
Â
Over the first two minutes of the second half, IUP outscored the Griffins 10-3 as they extended their lead to 50-37. SHU responded with a 7-0 run keyed by two baskets from
Brian Belade as they trimmed the IUP lead to 50-44 with 11:51 left. IUP then responded with another run of their own, this one a 13-4 run as they built a 63-48 lead with 8:39 to play.Â
Â
SHU got to back within nine on a Belade layup with 6:30 to play but that would be as close as the Griffins would get until the final buzzer on a Meis three that trimmed the final margin to eight.Â
Â
Curtis led the Griffins with 17 points. Meis followed with 13. Green finished with 11 and Belade also reached double figures with 10.
Â
Seton Hill will travel to Edinboro next Saturday for another PSAC West contest.Â
