The Griffins hosted Edinboro on Wednesday evening in the McKenna Center in the PSAC West Opener for both teams.
Seton Hill won a wild first set but the Fighting Scots rallied to win the final three sets as they defeated the Griffins in four. SHU drops to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in the west while Edinboro improves to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the west.
The first set was tightly contested with neither team holding more than a three point advantage in the set. Edinboro took an 11-8 lead early in the set but SHU ran off four straight points to take a 12-11 lead. A kill from
Paige Cole tied the set at 20. The Scots then scored three straight as they took a 23-20 lead. SHU used two
Catie Flohr kills and two Scot hitting errors to tie the set at 24. Back to back kills from Flohr and
Abby Oesterling put the Griffins in front 26-25. Cole had two straight kills for the Griffins to give them a 28-27 lead and
Kate Eden and
Elizabeth Kolkowski combined on a block to end the set with SHU earning the 29-27 set win.
Edinboro evened the match with a 25-23 second set win. The Scots took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-21 third set win and closed out the match with a 25-21 fourth set win.
Cole led the Griffins with 20 kills. Flohr added 14 for the Griffins.
Payton Rodberg just missed double figures with nine kills. Oesterling paced the offense with 29 assists. Eden added 16 assists. Cole and
Maddie Stout each had 14 digs to lead the Griffins.
Kendyl Wagner added 12 digs. Kolkowski led SHU with four blocks.
The Griffins continue PSAC West play on Friday when they travel to Pitt Johnstown.
