Seton Hill began their season in Fort Lauderdale, FL for the Nova Southeastern Tournament on Friday. SHU took on Bentley in the first match then battled host Nova Southeastern in the nightcap.
Bentley swept the Griffins in the first match of the day. SHU won the second set against Nova Southeastern but Nova won the final two sets for a 3-1 win.
Bentley won 25-17 in the first set. They followed that with a 25-15 win in the second set and the Falcons closed out the match with a 25-13 third set win.
Payton Rodberg led SHU with six kills.
Paige Cole added five.
Ella Deeter and Catie Floor each finished with four.
Abby Oesterling led the offense with 10 assists. Cole and Deeter each had seven digs.
Nova Southeastern won a tough first set by the score of 25-23. SHU responded with a 25-18 second set win. The Sharks closed out the match with a 25-22 and 25-15 set wins.
Cole led SHU with nine kills. Rodberg and Flohr each added seven kills. Oesterling led SHU with 17 assists and 12 digs.
SHU will take on Eckerd and Dominican (NY) on Saturday in Florida to close out the tourney.
