Seton Hill began their 2023 campaign with a home contest against Fairmont State on Thursday afternoon in Greensburg.
SHU got a goal midway through the second half and was able to hold on for a 1-0 victory as head coach
Riley Butler picked up his first victory as a Griffin coach. SHU starts the season with a 1-0 record.
Neither team was able to score in the first half with the Falcons outshooting the Griffins by a 5-4 margin.
Lindsey Pazdziorko made one save for the Griffins in the half.
The Griffins got on the board first in the 68th minute.
Kilee Coatney's shot was blocked but it bounced to
Jessica Molitoris near the top of the box and Molitoris' shot went into the upper left hand corner of the goal to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead. SHU was able to keep the Falcons off the scoreboard over the final 22 minutes to record the win.
Pazdziorko finished with a save to earn the shutout.
Mikayla Moyer led SHU with three shots. Molitoris added two shots.
SHU will begin PSAC West play on Wednesday as they host Mercyhurst.
