Griffins Move to G-MAC Final with Win over Walsh

Seton Hill hosted Walsh in the G-MAC semifinal on Wednesday afternoon on a cold and rainy DSG Field.
 
The Griffins jumped out to a 11-4 halftime lead and cruised to a 19-6 victory over the Cavaliers to move into the league's final. 
 
Carter Green put the Griffins in front just 43 seconds into the contest.  Walsh answered just over a minute later to tie the score at one.  SHU then went on a 4-0 run over an eight minute stretch as they took a 5-1 lead.  Peyton Gensler, Blake Morrow, Demetri Yerou and Andy Davis scored for the Griffins in the run.  Walsh scored with 1:30 left to trim the lead to 5-2 but Nate Herbster scored with nine seconds to play to make it 6-2 at the end of the first. 
 
Jeremy Sforzo and Gensler scored just over a minute apart as SHU built an 8-2 lead with 8:31 left in the quarter.  Walsh scored two of the next three as they cut the Griffins lead to 9-4 with 2:33 left.  Nate Herbster and Jack VanSlooten scored before the half as the Griffins led 11-4 at the half. 
 
Davis, Michael Coleman and Colin Socker scored to open the second half for the Griffins as they extended their lead to 14-4 with 6:26 to play in the third.  After a Walsh goal, Gensler and Wade Brunelle scored to give SHU a 16-5 lead at the end of the third. 
 
Gavin Erikson, Herbster and Blake Morrow scored for the Griffins in the fourth. 
 
SHU outshot the Cavs by a 53-21 margin. 
 
Herbster led the Griffins with four goals.  Gensler scored three times and added two assists.  Davis scored twice and added an assist.  Morrow scored twice.  Coleman added a goal and two assists.  Josh Miller made 12 saves in cage. 
 
The Griffins will host Mercyhurst in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Final on Saturday afternoon at noon.
